Kratos Defense & Security Solutions has announced plans to establish operations in Indiana.
On Tuesday they broke ground on a 68,000-square-foot facility at WestGate@Crane Technology Park near the Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane near Odon, IN. The Indiana Payload Integration Facility will support hypersonic launch programs, including the Multi-Service Advanced Capabilities Hypersonic Testbed.
Indiana Governor Mike Braun spoke at the ceremony and took part in the groundbreaking.
According to the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC), the $50 million investment is expected to create over 100 high-tech jobs with an average salary exceeding $80,000. The facility will include offices, laboratories, and spaces for full-the testing of hypersonic technologies. It is expected to be operational by the end of 2026.
State officials say the investment strengthens Indiana’s role in advanced manufacturing and national defense while providing economic benefits to the region. Meanwhile, Kratos has also announced a separate investment in a new energetics and solid rocket motor production facility in Bloomfield.
The IEDC has committed up to $18 million in tax credits and incentives to support Kratos’ long-term growth in Indiana, which could bring up to 628 new jobs by 2029.
