A Wind Advisory has been issued for several area counties, including Knox, Daviess, Martin, Greene, and Sullivan. The advisory will go into effect at 5 p.m. Eastern today and last through 4 p.m. Eastern on Saturday.

The National Weather Service expects south winds of 20 to 30 miles an hour, with gusts up to 50 at times.

Meanwhile, weather experts say the region has an Enhanced to Moderate risk of severe weather overnight tonight and tomorrow.  Severe thunderstorms are likely late tonight into early Saturday, with damaging winds as the primary threat, along with heavy rain, localized flooding, and isolated tornadoes.

Residents are urged to remain weather aware and have a plan to take action if necessary.

The possibility of severe weather coincides with with the end of Severe Weather Preparedness Week in Indiana.
