The Pike County Community Foundation has received a $5 million grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. to support the Buffalo Trace Trail project, a 2.5-mile path connecting to Petersburg’s 5-mile fitness trail.

The project aims to enhance community access, include public art installations led by Indiana University’s Center for Rural Engagement, and remove blight in the area.

Development and construction is estimated to take three years.
