A Vincennes man was sentenced Friday for his involvement in a 2023 deadly crash.

21-year old Keeton Walker pleaded guilty in October to reckless homicide stemming from the fatal accident in May 2023 near Monroe City.

Walker was driving at a high rate of speed on Monroe School Road when his car crashed and ejected 20-year old passenger Dalton Kirby of Vincennes. Kirby was pronounced dead at the scene.

A sentence hearing was held Friday in Knox Superior Court One with both sides presenting arguments. Knox County Prosecutor Dirk Carnahan says members of the victim’s family also testified asking Judge Gara Lee for leniency on Walker.

Judge Lee sentenced Walker to five years in jail, with all but 30 days suspended to probation. He was booked into the Knox County Jail Friday afternoon to begin his sentence.
