FROM INDIANA PUBLIC BROADCASTING

Governor-elect Mike Braun announced plans to reorganize Indiana’s executive branch to improve efficiency, accountability, and communication.

The reorganization centers on restructuring the governor’s cabinet. The cabinet will include the lieutenant governor, the state police superintendent, the head of the Indiana National Guard, and secretaries overseeing eight key policy areas: management and budget, health and family services, education, and business affairs, among others.

Each policy area will have one agency leader elevated to cabinet secretary, overseeing dozens of state agencies. Braun said the changes aim to better align agency functions.

The Secretary of Management and Budget will also explore further government consolidation to enhance state operations.
