Republican U.S. Sen. Mike Braun has won Indiana’s open governor’s race, defeating Democrat Jennifer McCormick and Libertarian Donald Rainwater.

Braun, a Trump ally completing his first Senate term, previously served in the Indiana legislature and on a local school board. His campaign highlighted his experience in building a southern Indiana auto parts distribution business into a multi-million-dollar company.

Braun’s win marks a historic milestone for Indiana, extending Republican control of the governor’s office beyond 20 years—a state record. Indiana Democrats last won the governorship in 2000. Current GOP Gov. Eric Holcomb was term-limited after eight years in office.

Republican Jim Banks has been elected as Indiana’s newest U.S. Senator winning the seat vacated by Braun.

A four-term U.S. representative and former Indiana state senator, Banks has held prominent roles in the GOP, including chairing the influential Republican Study Committee in Congress.

Banks, a strong supporter of Donald Trump, aligns with the former president on several issues.   His path to the Senate was widely expected, especially after former Gov. Mitch Daniels declined to enter the race.

Republican Todd Rokita has won reelection as Indiana’s attorney general security a 2nd term.

Rokita’s win continues the GOP’s long hold on Indiana’s attorney general position, which has been under Republican control since 2000.

Republican Mark Messmer has been elected to represent Indiana’s 8th Congressional District, following the retirement of longtime Congressman Larry Bucshon.

Messmer, a former state senator from Jasper, prevailed in the 21-county district with nearly 65% of the vote.
