Early voting in Knox County has reached a new milestone, according to County Clerk David Shelton. Over 6,300 people have voted early, with 5,600 in-person and around 660 by mail. On Tuesday, a record 438 early votes were cast in a single day. Voter turnout was at 27% as of Friday morning.
Election Day polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 13 locations across the county. Despite early voting numbers, Shelton expects a busy Election Day, driven by local school board races and state and national contests.
While unofficial results will be released on Election Night, final numbers may change slightly to account for provisional and overseas ballots.
For those who haven’t yet voted, early voting is available this Saturday at three locations from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Those are at the former Work Release Center on North 8th in Vincennes, ; at the Blue Jeans Center in Monroe City and at the Bicknell Firehouse.
The last opportunity to vote early is from 8 to Noon at the Work Release Center in Vincennes.
