Some Bicknell water customers have raised questions and concerns about discolored water recently. Bicknell Mayor Thomas Estabrook addressed those concerns in a social media post Thursday.

He says city personnel have been working to resolve the issue, which is likely linked to recent water system work. This includes hydrant flushing, the cleaning of one of the city’s water filters, and the use of fire hydrants by contractors during a highway construction project.

To address the problem, the city will flush the entire water distribution system from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on November 6th, 7th, and 8th by coordinating the flushing of fire hydrants throughout Bicknell.

Residents experiencing discolored water are advised to run water through an outside spigot or faucet for 3 to 5 minutes. For more information, customers can contact the utility office at 812-735-3301 or email utilityoffice@bicknell.in.gov.
