Indiana farmers made substantial harvest progress last week.

It was due in part to another stretch of dry weather.

According to USDA’s Indiana Field Office. Topsoil moisture levels continued to drop, with only 31% rated adequate or surplus.

The average temperature was 50 degrees, slightly below normal, while precipitation remained low at just 0.13 inches.

Farmers took advantage of 6.7 suitable fieldwork days to push ahead with the corn and soybean harvest, which remains ahead of the five-year average. However, dry conditions hindered pasture recovery, and cover crops, along with winter wheat, struggled to germinate
