Accused murderer Daniel Flaherty won’t be in court again until next year.
The Patoka man was charged earlier this month in the death of his estranged wife Kayla Flaherty. Reports indicated she had filed for divorce in September.
Flaherty was charged on October 4th just a day after he had reported Kayla missing.
He claimed she left for her mother’s home in Vincennes but never arrived. Investigators found no evidence she traveled there, and she also missed work at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Court documents also state Flaherty later admitted to striking is wife with a hammer, placing her body in their vehicle, and rigging the vehicle to drive into the Wabash River, where he set it on fire.
Her body was found the night of October 4th in Knox County.
At an initial hearing on October 7th, a public defender request was denied and he was ordered held without bond.
Since that time, Flaherty appeared in Gibson Superior Court via video conference and was represented by attorney Conor O’ Daniel who is with an Evansville law firm.
Flaherty’s next scheduled day in court is a status hearing set for January 15th 2025.
