The Vincennes Redevelopment Commission received and presented updates on several housing development projects that continue in Vincennes.

The Bierhaus Flatts project is in what was described as a “holding pattern” due to an issue regarding a loan with the Indiana Housing Finance Authority.

During Thursday’s meeting,  RDC member Greg Parsley discussed concerns about the city being asked to assume some of the financial risk for the project which he says the city is not prepared to do.  The next steps are in the hands of the developer.  That project entails the construction of a complex on Bierhaus Boulevard consisting of 200 multi family housing units.

Meanwhile, plumbing work on the Oliphant project located downtown continues while electrical work is getting started. Board member Beth Meeks says communication from developers indicate that there are plans to start on the elevator in the next month.  A completion date has not been set.  That project involves converting the Oliphant building into condominiums.

In addition RDC President Tim Smith reported that the first home constructed by DC Developers off Thompson Drive will soon be on the market, and after it sells, more spec houses will be built.
