The Vincennes City Council has approved its 2025 budget but made changes to a funding item for the Pantheon, a downtown business start-up and co-working space.

Originally, $150,000 was allocated, but council member Brian Grove proposed reducing it to $75,000. That motion resulted in a 3-3 tie. With one council member absent, Mayor Joe Yochum cast a deciding vote against the reduction.

Council member Regina Blinn then proposed funding the Pantheon with $100,000, matching last year’s amount.

In discussions, council member Marc McNeece noted that while the Pantheon wasn’t the primary issue, funds might be needed for the planned future development on Bierhaus Boulevard.

Grove noted that reducing the Pantheon funding didn’t remove the funds entirely, and the Pantheon could request additional support later if needed.

Ultimately, the council passed the amended $100,000 allocation with a 5-1 vote, with Grove opposing.
