There are only a few days left to visit the Uprooted art exhibition at Vincennes University’s Shircliff Gallery of Art. Running through October 20, the exhibit features two photographic artists exploring forests in unique ways.

Margaret LeJeune’s series, Thirteen Hours to Fall, delves into the concept of “ghost forests,” where coastal trees have died due to saltwater intrusion from rising sea levels. Laura Greenwood’s immersive installation, Resonance, showcases tree portraits printed on 11-foot-long silk chiffon, accompanied by an eight-minute video montage of forests, complete with wind and birdsong.

Gallery Director Chris Schneberger shared the public’s response to the exhibit, noting the meditative experience of Greenwood’s installation and the reflective nature of LeJeune’s work on dying forests.

An artist’s reception will be held tomorrow at noon, where both artists will discuss their works. The Shircliff Gallery of Art is located in the Humanities Building on the Vincennes University campus, Harrison Street.
