Early voting in Knox County has seen a strong turnout, with over 800 in-person voters casting their ballots from Tuesday through Friday last week.

Early voting is taking place at the former Work Release Center in Vincennes.

Knox County Clerk David Shelton says that on the first day of early voting, Tuesday October 8th,  nearly 100 voters arrived within the first two hours of polling. He says those numbers are surpassing early voting totals from 2020.

Additionally, he says over 570 absentee ballots have been sent by mail, with the deadline to request an absentee ballot set for Thursday, October 24.

Early voting continues on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the former Work Release Building.

Early voting will also take place on the two Saturdays prior to election day which are October 26 and November 2 from 8 to 3 both days at the Vincennes location, as well as the Blue Jeans Center in Monroe City and the Bicknell Firehouse.
