Indiana farmers saw good harvest conditions last week thanks to dry weather, according to USDA officials.
For the week ending October 6th, the latest report shows topsoil moisture dropped, with 54 percent of the state rated as adequate or surplus. The average temperature was 65 degrees, about 6.5 degrees above normal, and rainfall was well below average at just 0.09 inches.
Harvesting for corn and soybeans moved ahead of schedule, though a few combine fires were reported due to excessive dust in drier areas. Pasture conditions showed slight improvement, with 31 percent rated good to excellent.
