United Way’s annual Days of Caring brought together about 500 volunteers from across the community to lend a helping hand to local nonprofit organizations.
That’s according to Mark Hill, the Executive Director of the local United Way
Days of Caring happened Thursday and Friday and included South Knox students cleaning up the downtown pavilion parking lot while the VU Men’s Basketball Team members were working at PACE.
Several groups were at the McCormick Center doing landscaping. Other volunteers came from local businesses, schools, and community groups, uniting to make a tangible difference.
One of the highlighted projects was food collection at area grocery stores to donate to local food pantries.
Hill described it as an an exciting day to see all this work happening at the same time.
The event is part of United Way’s broader mission to promote volunteerism and community engagement, ensuring that local nonprofits have the resources and support they need to serve the community year-round.
United Way also took the opportunity to remind residents that their annual fundraising campaign is underway, encouraging continued support for their programs that benefit education, health, and financial stability.
