Investigators are still looking into the cause of a fire that destroyed what had become a staple in the Daviess County Amish community.
Early Sunday morning, crews were dispatched to the Bargain Center, known as the “Amish Wal-Mart,” on County Road 400N after a smoke alarm was triggered.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the building engulfed in flames, prompting a request for additional resources.
Seven agencies responded to the scene, battling the fire for several hours. The building and its contents are considered a total loss, with the cause still undetermined.
