A traffic stop in Knox County on September 12, 2024, led to the arrest of a 25-year-old woman on drug-related charges. Around 4:27 a.m., a Knox County deputy pulled over a gray Hyundai Elantra for an expired license plate. The plate on the vehicle was found to belong to a 2004 Saturn Vue.
During the stop, a K-9 unit alerted deputies to the presence of drugs, leading to the discovery of methamphetamine in the purse of a female passenger. The woman, who initially refused to identify herself, was later identified as Annette Burkhardt of Vincennes. She was taken into custody for possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, and possession of paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. It was also revealed that Burkhardt had an active warrant for probation violation out of Knox County. She is currently being held without bond pending her court appearance.
The driver of the vehicle was cited for false registration and released from the scene.
