Daviess County has joined the growing list of Indiana counties under a burn ban due to ongoing dry conditions. The ban was announced Wednesday and will remain in effect until further notice.
Other Indiana counties currently under burn bans include Gibson, Dubois, and Martin. Meanwhile, Sullivan, Knox, and Pike counties have NOT yet implemented similar restrictions. Knox County officials briefly discussed the issue earlier this week but chose to delay any action for a week, awaiting potential rainfall.
Even in areas without an official ban, local authorities advise against open burning, citing the high risk of brush and field fires.
In neighboring Illinois, Lawrence and Richland counties have also issued burn bans.
