More details have been disclosed in connection with a Labor Day shooting death in Daviess County.

At 8:17 p.m. on September 2, Daviess County Central Dispatch received a call from the residence of David Goble on SR 257. The caller reported that a man, later identified as 59-year-old Kevin Wilson of Washington, arrived armed and began arguing with Goble.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Department reports that Goble told Wilson to leave multiple times, but Wilson continued approaching, eventually pointing a gun at Goble. In self-defense, Goble fired two shots, fatally wounding Wilson, who retreated and died near his vehicle.

Authorities report no known connection between the two men, and Wilson had a history of mental health issues. The investigation is ongoing, with a report pending to the Daviess County Prosecutor’s Office.
