FROM INDIANA PUBLIC BROADCASTING

The Loogootee City Council as approved a permit for a Pride festival.

The action came at this week’s regular council meeting.

The Indiana American Civil Liberties Union sued the council June 13th, alleging its actions denying the festival violated the First Amendment.

The case has been in U.S. District Court in Evansville for two-and-a-half months.

The council originally approved the event last November, but new council members rejected the permit in February due to a recently-passed ordinance.

The second annual Loogootee PrideFest will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. September 7th on the town square.

The free event will feature local music and performances, a variety show, a health fair, and food vendors
