The Salvation Army of Vincennes has new leadership with Captain Joey and Pamela Gates now serving as Corps Officers. The couple, who moved from Kokomo, began their roles in July and are settling into the Vincennes community.

Captain Joey Gates expressed their enthusiasm for connecting with the community and developing programs, saying they are already preparing for some of the Salvation Army’s traditional events. One of those events is the Red Kettle Campaign, which takes place during the Christmas season. Gates noted, “September 1st is when our volunteer bell ringing site is going to be open. You can see all the locations that we are at, all the open spots,  and I’m hoping to get all of them filled, hopefully before the Christmas season starts.”

The sign-up for volunteers begins this Sunday, September 1st, at registertoring.com.

In October, there will be another opportunity to support the Salvation Army of Vincennes. Captain Joey Gates shared, “October 8th, we are doing our collection for coats for kids. We’ll collect that entire day. They’ll go to SureClean to get cleaned, and then we will,  distribute them throughout the winter pretty much. So when we’re doing our Christmas applications, you can sign up to get coats or other winter articles.”
