An Ohio man was jailed in Gibson County after hitting a guardrail on I-69 and then traveling the wrong way on the interstate.

The incident occurred before 10-pm Central Time Thursday when Gibson County Deputies received reports of a northbound silver Chevy Silverado striking a guardrail and continuing without stopping.

A caller gave an accurate vehicle description and the truck was later seen going south in the northbound lane. The truck nearly hit a deputy near the 31 mile marker.  The officer then turned and made a traffic stop.

26-year-old Miguel Santiago Velasco of Cincinnati, Ohio was arrested and taken to the Gibson County Jail.  He’s charged with Recklessness With a Vehicle, Reckless Driving, OWI- Refusal, and Operator Never Licensed.
