Much of Monday’s Vincennes City Council meeting was dominated by discussion surrounding the city’s utilities.

Every four years, a utility rate study is conducted to determine if current utility rates are keeping up with current and future needs as well as meeting operations, maintenance, taxes and debt service.

Jennifer Wilson with Crowe Financial Services addressed the county saying that based on the current numbers and revenue, they were not recommending a rate increase.

She also presented information showing that Vincennes has the lowest utility rates compared to cities of of similar size throughout the region.

The city council gave praise to Utility Services Manager Kirk Bouchie for his work in keeping the utilities financially sound.
