Good Samaritan Hospital has welcomed a new member to its Volunteer Services team: Willow, a certified therapy dog. Willow, a five-year-old New Finland Poodle, has been providing comfort to patients, caregivers, and visitors.

Willow’s handler, Dennis Everett, noted, “Willow has a natural ability to connect with people. It’s incredible to see how a simple interaction with her can brighten someone’s day.”

Ali McCrary, the Volunteer Services Manager, explained that Willow’s role as a therapy dog is different from that of a service dog. “We had therapy animals in the past before the COVID pandemic, and now we are excited to offer this service again.” Since Willow and Dennis began visiting twice a week, the response has been positive, with many asking when they will return.
