Vincennes University Women’s Basketball Coach Harry Meeks has officially retired.
The university held a retirement celebration on Thursday where several turned out to pay tribute to the esteemed coach who also served as athletic director.
His departure was announced in April.
The long time coach spent 33 years at the helm of the women’s program compiling 750 wins and 283 losses.
We asked him what was his proudest moment…
Meeks said he did have one regret which was not reaching the 800 win mark.
He told First City News what it is he will miss the most at Vincennes University…
In addition to basketball, Meeks was also noted for his passion to make a difference in the community by hosting the annual Play-4-Kay game that benefited the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
Last month, VU Assistant Coach Ingrida Hartsfeld was named the Women’s Interim Head Coach.
The search for a new permanent coach begins next year.
