Knox County’s watermelon tradition is making more history today.

AgroRenew is officially breaking ground on it’s $83 million operation at the Knox County Industrial Park.

The investment came as a result of conversations and networking at the Pantheon in Vincennes.

Entrepreneur Brian Southern began talks with area farmers at the  innovation center & co-working space in downtown Vincennes and the idea was born to build a plant that would turn watermelon and other produce byproducts into 100% biodegradable plastic.

The announcement of the plant that will create around 300 jobs came last fall.

Earlier this month, we spoke with Southern who told us about the hiring process…

The hiring for roles in Business Operations, Food Science, Engineering, Quality, and Production will begin this summer.

Southern and his wife Katy stress that AgroRenew is and will be a locally owned and operated facility…
