State Road 67 is one of the deadliest highways in Indiana.

That’s according to a recent study from Dallas based law office, The Barber Law Firm.

The firm’s analysis,  measuring statistics from 2018 to 2022,  says there are 7.4 fatalities per year on the stretch of highway that cuts a diagonal route from southwest to northeast across the state.

Over the five year period, there have been 31 fatal crashes on 67 resulting in 37 deaths over the entire length of the road that runs from from the north side of Vincennes to Indianapolis to the Ohio state line.

The worst year for crashes was 2022 when 15 people were killed in 12 accidents.

State Road 67 was in 2nd place in the rankings with Indiana 37 being named the worst highway for fatalities in Indiana.

The study says there are 8.4 fatalities a year on 37 which runs as a four-lane divided highway for 110 miles of its course.

Before I69 was finished, 37 was the most direct route between Fort Wayne and Indianapolis.

37 now has two disconnected segments running from Tell City to Indy and from I-469 in Fort Wayne to the Ohio state line.
