First City News has received a requested document in relation to the termination of a South Knox teacher.

It was back on May 7th when the South Knox School Board terminated Machelle Pool’s contract.

Several showed up at the public meeting to support Pool.

The board’s president Michael Edwards had told us the decision was based on a recommendation by the school superintendent Jeff Cochran.

As part of the process, the superintendent presented a Findings of Fact document which was adopted by the board.

First City News requested a copy of the that public document on May 8th and received it today June 5th.

According to the Findings of Fact, the reasons for the termination had to do with Pool’s poor attendance.

Cochren provided information that Pool had missed 364 days since 2018 and in 15 years with the corporation had missed 588 days.

Detailed dates and times of missed work are listed in the document while the reasons for the absences were redacted due to privacy issues.

Again the Findings of Fact is a a public document and can be requested through the South Knox School Corporation.
