The Vincennes Children’s Choir held their first rehearsal Monday.

The creation of the choir was announced back in February at the opening of the Vincennes Teen Center located at Old Town Players Theater on Broadway in Vincennes.

The choir is made up of kids in the 4th through 6th grades and is open to to all schools in Knox County.

There is no cost to participate and the choir meets Mondays this summer at the OTP Theater at 5-pm.

The director is Lydia Jones of Vincennes Catholic Schools.  She’s been eager to get started with the new extracurricular activity.

The choir’s first performance wiill be on a float at the Vincennes 4th of July Parade.

Then a month later, the choir will be at the Vincennes Watermelon Festival and another concert is planned for the end of summer.

Plans are for the choir to reunite later in the fall and prepare for a holiday concert at Christmas time.
