Spring has sprung and so has planting season.

State and local law enforcement are reminding drivers to watch out for farmers at work.

As farm equipment traffic starts to increase, the Knox County  Sheriff’s Office is stressing the need for extra care and patience behind the wheel.

The machines often are slow-moving, and obstruct visibility.

They also make wide turns which at times can occur suddenly.

As motorists share the roads with those who grow our food, drivers are reminded to slow down, keep a safe distance, pass with extreme care, use signals and obey traffic laws.

Farmers will usually stop and let motorists pass if they are able, but it may take time for them to get to a safe place to pull over.
