As of Tuesday morning, a man accused of murdering his father in Gibson County is awaiting extradition to Princeton to face the charge.
Authorities say 20-year-old Jonathan Fiscus of Oakland City remains jailed in Illinois, where he was initially arrested on auto theft charges. During a court-related interview in Edgar County last week, Fiscus allegedly confessed to killing his father and leaving the body at their home on Dale Street.
Oakland City Police found 52-year-old Brad Fiscus dead inside the house Thursday after being alerted by Illinois jail staff. An autopsy was conducted Sunday, and preliminary results are pending.
Witnesses told Indiana State Police the father and son often argued, and the landlord said she was aware of past domestic issues between them.
Fiscus reportedly claimed he fled the scene days earlier and stole a car in Paris, Illinois, to escape. Court records also show a prior domestic battery case involving Fiscus and a recently issued warrant for a probation violation.
A judge in Gibson County found probable cause for the murder charge and Johnathan Fiscus was still being held in Illinois until he can be brought to Gibson County.
