Vincennes PBS will host a free screening of Carl the Collector on Saturday, April 25, at 6 p.m. at Davis Hall on the Vincennes University campus.
The event features a viewing of Carl the Collector, a new PBS Kids program about an autistic raccoon named Carl. The character offers a unique perspective that helps build understanding and acceptance of autism in young viewers.
Families attending the event can enjoy free popcorn, PBS giveaways, and a relaxed, welcoming environment. While registration is not required, attendees are encouraged to RSVP through the Vincennes PBS Facebook page to help staff plan for seating and refreshments.
You can RSVP at this link.
In addition to the screening, Vincennes PBS will host a sensory-friendly tour of its television and radio studios on Saturday, May 3, starting at 10:30 a.m. The tour will accommodate individuals with sensory sensitivities by reducing lights, limiting noise, and controlling group sizes.
Education and Community Outreach Coordinator Allison Bowers said these events are part of the station’s broader efforts during Autism Awareness Month to engage local schools and families. “I’m trying to lead by example and hoping more events around Vincennes will start offering sensory-friendly options,” Bowers said.
