The Vincennes University community and sports fans are remembering the life of Harry Meeks. The retired VU Women’s Basketball Coach died Saturday.
Meeks announced his retirement a year ago after 33 years leading the Trailblazer women’s team. He also served as VU’s Athletic Director.
He joined VU in 1991 and became the program’s winningest coach with 750 wins and 11 NJCAA National Tournament appearances. In 2010, he became Athletic Director, overseeing multiple national championships in other sports.
Meeks was inducted into the NJCAA Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2020.
Just last month, Meeks was among 8 VU coaches who were honored with NJCAA Coaches Legacy Awards.
Funeral arrangements are being finalized.
