Lincoln High School’s spring musical opens Thursday with a stage production of Big, the musical adaptation of the 1988 Tom Hanks film.

Director Colin Crabtree said the production includes about 30 students ranging from fourth graders to seniors.
“Some of them weren’t familiar with the movie, so it’s been fun watching them shape their characters,” Crabtree said.

The story centers on a boy who makes a wish to become an adult, only to find growing up isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
“There are a lot of nostalgic moments from the film,” Crabtree said. “We even built a floor piano so we could recreate that iconic scene where two of the movie’s characters dance on that oversize piano.”

Lead roles include Carter Hagan as Josh, Lauren Star as Susan, and Jude Clark as Mr. MacMillan.

Performances run April 24–27 at the LHS Auditorium: Thursday through Saturday at 7 p.m., and Sunday at 3 p.m. Tickets are available at the door or online at vcscstars.com.
