The Vincennes Historical Half Marathon returns for its fourth year this Saturday.
Organizer Allie Bobe says there are a few changes this year. They’ve added a new 10K route alongside its traditional half marathon, 5K, and free kids’ fun run.
She highlighted the unique course through Vincennes’ historic sites which gives participants the opportunity to the George Rogers Clark Memorial, , William Henry Harrison’s home and more. She told us planning the route every year can be challenging due to railroad tracks, but adjustments are made yearly to improve the course.
Bobe also says the event, with over 300 runners and walkers each year, continues to draw national interest. ” I’ve seen so far people from Michigan signing up this year, Kentucky, Georgia. Last year we had somebody from Alaska.” She said. “I think a lot of people are attracted to just how cool it is, you know, visiting Indiana’s First City and seeing all of like the quaint little things that we have here.”
The Downtown Vincennes Association is holding a Spectator Alley pop-up bar as part of the day’s events. That’s from 11 to 2 at the Pocket Park on Main Street on Saturday.
More information is available on the event’s Facebook page.
The half marathon is sponsored in part by WVUB, be sure and looking for Blazer 91.1 personalities when you attend the the event his Saturday.
