The Vincennes Redevelopment Commission (RDC) voted Tuesday to contribute $4,000 each to two local fundraising efforts, pushing both over their goals to secure matching grants through Indiana’s Patronicity program.
The Rotary Young Leaders are raising money for new basketball courts at Lester Square Park. Their campaign had reached approximately over $46,000 according to the Patronicity website. J.R. Fields, Parks Superintendent approached the RDC saying they are grateful for anything that helps them to the goal. With the $50,000 goal now met, the project qualifies for a $50,000 match from the state.
Meanwhile, The Old Town Players theater also surpassed its goal following the RDC vote. Treasurer Steve Gray told the RDC that this is the largest fundraising campaign in the group’s history saying the theater has “well over $200,000 worth of projects” planned. As of Thursday the Patronicity website reported over $48,000 had been donated through the program and now the OTP will also have a $50,000 state match by surpassing the goal.
Both campaigns are still accepting donations for a little while longer.
