The Old Town Players have raised almost half of their $50,000 fundraising goal.
The local community theater group launched a Patronicity matching grant campaign 20 days ago. If the goal is met, the state will match the funds, allowing for major renovations to the historic building.
Group President Shari Phillips says some of the needed work includes repairing a leaky veranda and roof, as well as fixing the ceiling.
There’s a lot of other things that we’d like to do if we have more money. We’d like to update the bathrooms. We’d like to paint the walls in the auditorium. I mean, there’s just an array, but when you get a building that’s over, over 100 years old, the upkeep on it is just astronomical that people just don’t realize.” she said.
The campaign runs through April 30. More information is available at this link.
