A reminder that the Knox County Health Department is hosting a measles vaccination clinic tomorrow from 9 a.m. to noon at its office in the Bierhaus Building on 2nd Street. No appointment is needed, and the vaccine is available at no cost.  However, insurance may be billed.

The clinic is a precautionary effort following a recent measles outbreaks in the U.S.  Knox County Health Officer Dr. Alan Stewart urges parents to ensure their children are up to date on the MMR vaccine, which is 97% effective at preventing measles.  There have been no cases locally.

Measles is highly contagious and can lead to serious complications. For those unable to attend, vaccinations are available at the health department during regular business hours.
