Today is National Ag Day, a time to recognize and celebrate the essential role agriculture plays in the U.S. economy and daily life. From food and clothing to fuel and medicine, nearly every product we use is connected to farming. Events nationwide highlight agriculture’s impact and the innovation that keeps the industry growing.
Knox County Ag Day was last week with special events at the Vincennes University P.E. Complex. Area school kids attended and learned about farming through hands-on activities, including a petting zoo with baby animals, kiddie tractor pulls, and educational booths. A combined choir from Franklin and Riley Elementary Schools performed the National Anthem, and the Lincoln High School JROTC presented the flags.
Many came by to enjoy a pork burger supper from the Knox County Pork Producers. The cost was only $1, symbolizing how much a farmer earns from the meal.
As National Ag Day reminds us, agriculture is everywhere shaping communities, feeding families, and driving the economy.
