Two Vincennes University law enforcement graduates have been promoted to leadership positions within the Indiana State Police.

Superintendent Anthony Scott has named Lieutenant Brian Bailey as Area III Commander, overseeing southwest Indiana, and Lieutenant Brock J. Werne as Jasper District Commander.

Bailey, a Reitz High School graduate from Evansville, earned an associate degree in law enforcement from Vincennes University. He joined ISP in 1993, starting at the Indiana Toll Road before transferring to the Evansville District in 1995. He was promoted to detective in 2004 and later held the ranks of sergeant, first sergeant, and lieutenant, serving as Evansville District Commander since 2013.

Werne, a Jasper native, graduated from Vincennes University with an associate degree in Conservation Law. He joined ISP in 2007, patrolling Crawford and Dubois counties before becoming a detective in 2017. In 2020, he was promoted to Investigative Squad Leader, overseeing detectives in seven counties.
