Damage assessment and cleanup efforts continue following the weekend’s severe storms.

Preliminary reports confirm EF-2 tornadoes with winds reaching at least 115 miles per hour in Gibson and Pike counties, along with an EF-1 tornado in Daviess County with winds of 110 miles per hour.

The storms swept through early Saturday morning. One tornado in Oakland City caused significant property damage as it moved northeast. Other tornadoes or straight-line winds brought down trees and damaged homes in the Campbelltown area of Pike County.

A tornado that formed northeast of Algiers in Pike County moved through the small community, tearing the roof off a church that has stood along Highway 356 since 1868 and damaging multiple homes.

In Daviess County, a tornado crossed the East Fork White River, tracking northeast before dissipating just west of Loogootee. The storm inflicted heavy damage on Lark Ranch and destroyed several large grain bins.

Utility crews from WIN-Energy, Duke Energy, CenterPoint, and Daviess-Martin REMC worked throughout the weekend to restore power to affected customers.

No injuries were reported in southwest Indiana.

The American Red Cross will be available at 8:30 a.m. Central Time today at East Gibson Fire Station 1 in Oakland City to assist those impacted by the storms.
