The Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) has announced an update to its waiver invitation process for individuals waiting for home and community-based services. Effective immediately, those invited off the waiting list for the PathWays HCBS Waiver and Health and Wellness Waiver must complete all required steps within 180 days to begin receiving services.
The updated process includes a 30-day window for individuals to notify their local Area Agency on Aging after receiving the invitation letter. After acceptance, they must complete Medicaid financial eligibility, schedule and complete a functional eligibility assessment, and work with a Case Manager or Service Coordinator to complete their service plan.
If these steps are not completed within the 180-day period, the invitation will be rescinded, and the individual will not be placed back on the waiting list but may reapply at any time. This change aims to reduce delays and increase efficiency in the waiver services process.
For those wishing to join the waiting lists for the PathWays HCBS or Health and Wellness Waiver, contact your local Area Agency on Aging. To access the Family Supports Waiver, individuals should contact their local Bureau of Disabilities Services office.
