The Vincennes City Council held their first meeting of 2025 last night.
New officers were elected for this year.
Brian Grove will retain the office of President for the city council while John Stangle was voted as the new Vice – President.
Also last night, Vincennes Police Chief Jon Hillenbrand introduced three new officers that were sworn in earlier in the day at the Board of Works meeting.
Those officers include: Mason Stafford a 2018 graduate of Lincoln High School who has spent the last four years in the Army; Caden Devin, who spent the last four years with the Army Reserves and is a North Knox graduate; and Zach King, a Washington high school graduate who previously was a welding supervisor. With the new officers, the staff is now two people short of having the entire force filled. Chief Hillenbrand hopes to be filling those positions in the near future.
Mayor Yochum and council members commended all of the area departments for their work during last week’s storm. They also thanked the public for “staying off the roads” so all of the work could be done.
