The new Vincennes VA Clinic at 1321 Willow Street officially marked its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday afternoon, bringing together local veterans, community leaders, and officials to celebrate this important milestone.

Mayor Joe Yochum addressed the crowd, expressing gratitude to veterans and emphasizing the clinic’s role in providing essential services. “I truly know I live the life I live because of your service,” Yochum said. He also highlighted the clinic’s accessibility, noting it is now a stop on the city’s free trolley service.  The new transportation service starts on December 2nd.

Zack Sage, Executive Director of the Marion VA Healthcare System, praised the community’s support for veterans and shared that the facility serves approximately 1,700 veterans. He encouraged attendees to spread the word about VA benefits, as nearly 40% of eligible veterans in Knox County and surrounding areas are not yet utilizing them.

The clinic, which began serving patients in September, focuses on primary care, behavioral health, telehealth specialty services, and whole health coaching. Sage called the new facility “an investment for the next 30 to 50 years” in veterans’ healthcare.

Distinguished guests included representatives from local veterans’ organizations and legislative offices, who joined the celebration. Organizations like American Legion Post 73 and VFW Post 1157 were recognized for their ongoing contributions to veterans’ welfare.

After the ceremony, attendees toured the modern facility, enjoyed refreshments, and discussed how the clinic can continue to support the local veteran community.
