Washington Avenue is set to reopen Friday afternoon, bringing relief to area motorists and daily commuters who rely on the thoroughfare.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the entrance to Gregg Park, with Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum officiating. Following the ceremony, the road will be open to traffic.
The first section of Washington Avenue closed in June 2023 for extensive renovations, which included new curbs, sidewalks, and other improvements. Funding came from transportation grants with local matching funds.
With the road reopening, traffic flow through Gregg Park will also return to its normal pattern after adjustments made during construction.
