In celebration of Native American Heritage Month, Vincennes University will host a screening of Women of the White Buffalo on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. The event is part of the VU Humanities Film & Lecture Series and is co-sponsored by the VU Office of Global Diversity & Inclusion and the Wabash Valley Progressives.

The film, which begins at 6:00 p.m. in the Shircliff Auditorium, shares the stories of nine Native American women working to bring hope to their communities while addressing issues such as addiction, poverty, and historical trauma. A discussion will follow the screening, offering attendees a chance to reflect on the themes presented.

Jen Holscher, a board member of Wabash Valley Progressives, shared the importance of this film: “Many indigenous communities are persisting in saving their identities and traditions amidst significant challenges. The determined women in this film inspire hope for the future of indigenous people.”

The event is free and open to the public, with light refreshments provided. Parking is available across from the VU Humanities Building at 2nd and Harrison Streets.
