Knox County has selected a new leader for its 911 Central Dispatch.

Deputy Director Carter Luce has been appointed as the new Director, following the resignation of current Director Rob Mullen, who is leaving for a private sector job. Mullen’s last day is set for Friday.

The Knox County Commissioners accepted Mullen’s resignation during their Wednesday meeting, commending his service as

Commissioner Kellie Streeter praised Mullen’s work, particularly his handling of public safety efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.  She stated his efforts have made Knox County’s public safety answering point the best in Indiana.

To ensure a smooth transition, the Commissioners appointed Deputy Director Carter Luce as the new Director in a 2-1 vote, citing Luce’s experience under Mullen’s guidance. Commissioner T.J. Brink voted against the decision, advocating for an open hiring process before selecting a new Director.
