The Daviess County community and area fire departments and emergency services are mourning the loss of Anthony “Tony” Wichman.

He’s described as a dedicated leader who spent more than half his life serving others. Wichman passed away on Thursday, leaving behind a legacy of service.

Tony Wichman was a founding member of the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department, where he served for over 50 years, including 27 years as Chief. He was also an EMT for 21 years and a Daviess County Commissioner for 16 years. Wichman had a 45-year career as a community banker, including five years as President and CEO of First Federal Savings Bank of Washington.

Visitation for Wichman is today, Monday, November 4, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home in Washington. His funeral, a Mass of Christian Burial, will take place tomorrow, November 5, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church.

The family requests donations to the Washington Township Volunteer Firefighters or Helping Hearts Hospice in lieu of flowers. Online condolences can be shared on the Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home website.
