On Saturday morning, Sullivan County deputies responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle near County Roads 700 South and 600 East.
Deputy Justin Copeland was flagged down by two hunters reporting their truck had just been stolen from a nearby field. Shortly after, Copeland spotted the stolen truck speeding down a nearby road, finding it crashed into a bridge. The driver, Steven McIntyre, was airlifted in critical condition.
While on scene, officers received a report of a man, Kile Jones, walking near the original theft location. Jones, who had an outstanding warrant for meth possession, resisted arrest until a tow truck driver assisted officers.
Investigators believe McIntyre, Jones, and others may have been planning to break into a nearby residence before being confronted by the homeowner. Both McIntyre and Jones face multiple felony charges.
